🎓 Educational Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) pass certificate
  • Passing marks required in Mathematics and English
  • Must have studied local language up to 10th standard from recognized board

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of computers
  • Knowledge of cycling
  • Adequate means of livelihood (additional source of income required)

Desirable:

  • For BPM posts: Ability to arrange accommodation for Branch Post Office at own cost
  • Ability to work in rural areas
  • Ability to use smartphones, laptops, or computer devices

💰 Salary Details (per month)

Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA):

Branch Postmaster (BPM) ₹12,000 ₹29,380
Assistant BPM (ABPM) ₹10,000 ₹24,470
Dak Sevak ₹10,000 ₹24,470

Additional Benefits:

  • Annual increment of 3% on TRCA (subject to conditions)
  • Dearness Allowance on TRCA as per Government rates
  • GDS Gratuity
  • Service Discharge Benefit (similar to National Pension System)

Work Hours: Minimum 4 hours and maximum 5 hours per day


🎯 Selection Process

Merit-Based Selection:

  1. System-Generated Merit List based on Class 10th marks
  2. Marks converted to percentage (accurate to 4 decimals)
  3. For grade-based results, multiplication factor of 9.5 will be applied
  4. For CGPA-based results, CGPA × 9.5 will be used

Tie-Breaking Criteria:

  • Older candidate by date of birth gets preference
  • Category-wise priority if DOB is same

Steps:

  1. Shortlisting based on merit
  2. SMS/Email notification to shortlisted candidates
  3. Physical verification of documents
  4. Offer of provisional engagement (system-generated)
  5. Complete joining formalities within 30 days
  6. 3 days basic training
  7. Final engagement order after verification

⏳ Age Limit

As on 16 February 2026:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years

📝 How to Apply

Application Process (Two Parts):

Part A – One-Time Registration (31 Jan to 14 Feb 2026)

  1. Visit https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement
  2. Click on “Candidate Login/Register” → “New Candidate Registration”
  3. Verify mobile number and email ID via OTP
  4. Complete registration and note down Registration Number

Part B – Online Application (02 Feb to 16 Feb 2026)

  1. Login using Registration Number and Password
  2. Fill personal details, educational qualifications
  3. Select Division and give post preferences
  4. Upload photograph (JPG/JPEG, 30-100 KB, 320×400 pixels)
  5. Upload signature (JPG/JPEG, 20-100 KB, 300×120 pixels)
  6. Pay application fee (if applicable)
  7. Preview and submit application
  8. Save/print confirmation page
