๐ Educational Qualifications
For Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel), Machinist, and Fitter Trades:
- 10th class pass under 10+2 system with minimum 50% marks
- OR 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (50% marks)
- Valid ITI certificate in relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT recognized institute
- Must have passed by 01 December 2025
For Welder (Gas & Electric) Trade:
- 8th class pass
- Valid ITI certificate in Welding from NCVT/SCVT recognized institute
Mandatory Requirement:
- National Trade Certificate (NTC) or Provisional National Trade Certificate (PNTC) issued under the Apprentices Act, 1961
๐ฐ Stipend / Salary Details (per month)

๐ฏ Selection Process
Step 1: Merit-based selection using marks from both Matriculation and ITI examinations
Step 2: Merit list preparation
- Formula: (Matriculation marks ร 70% + ITI marks ร 80%) รท 2
- Minimum requirement: 50% in both Matriculation and ITI
Step 3: Shortlisting of candidates (1.5 times the number of vacancies per trade)
Step 4: Document verification (Schedule will be announced)
Step 5: Medical examination by Government Authorized Doctor (mandatory)
Important: No person who has already benefited from Craftsman Training Scheme will be eligible.
โณ Age Limit
For Electrician, Mechanic (Diesel), Machinist, and Fitter:
- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
For Welder (Gas & Electric):
- Minimum Age: 15 years
- Maximum Age: 22 years
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- OBC candidates: 3 years
Note: Age relaxation applicable only with valid caste certificate submitted before the last date.

Step 1: Register on National Skill Development Portal: www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in
Step 2: Visit PLW official website: www.plw.indianrailways.gov.in
Step 3: Navigate to Personnel Department โ Misc Activities โ “Engagement of Act Apprentices”
Step 4: Click on “New User Registration” and create your account
Step 5: Login with the credentials sent to your registered email
Step 6: Fill the application form carefully with all required details
Step 7: Save your data first, then click “Submit”
Step 8: Note down the Application Number generated
Step 9: Pay application fee (โน100 + bank charges) online
Step 10: Select:
- State: Punjab
- Type: Government Department
- Institution: PLW Indian Railways Patiala
- Payment Category: Apprentice Recruitment
Step 11: Complete payment and download the fee receipt
Step 12: Take printout of the application for future reference
Important Notes:
- Only online applications will be accepted
- If fee payment fails, resubmit within 48 hours
- Convert CGPA to percentage (CGPA ร 9.5) if applicable

- Class 10th/Matriculation certificate and mark sheet

- PWD certificate (as per Annexure-VII) – if applicable

For Document Verification:
- Bring all original documents along with self-attested copies
- Medical certificate signed by Government Doctor (not below rank of Assistant Surgeon)
