The selection has 4 stages. You must clear each stage to move forward:

Stage 1: Written Test

  • Type: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions
  • Language: English only
  • Negative Marking: Yes (1/4th marks deducted for wrong answers)
  • NCC Bonus: If you have NCC certificate, you get bonus marks:
    • NCC “C” Certificate: +5%
    • NCC “B” Certificate: +3%

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • Selection Criteria: Candidates are shortlisted based on written test results (6 times the number of vacancies)
  • Nature: Qualifying test (you must pass to proceed)

Physical Standards for Male Candidates:

  • Minimum Height: 5’6″ (167.64 cm)
  • Chest (Unexpanded): 32 inches
  • Chest (Expanded): 33½ inches

Physical Standards for Female Candidates:

  • Minimum Height: 5’2″ (157.48 cm)

Height Relaxation:

  • Gorkha Community candidates: Can get 2″ relaxation in height requirement

Stage 3: Physical Endurance Test (PET)

  • Nature: Qualifying test (must pass)

  • Pushups: 20 pushups

For Female Candidates:

  • Long Distance Running: 1000 meters in 6½ minutes
