🎯 Selection Process

The selection involves 5 key stages. Physical fitness is important for this job!

Stage 1: Written Examination (Qualifying)

  • Question Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Language: English only
  • Negative Marking: ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answer
  • NCC Bonus Marks:
    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 5% bonus
    • NCC ‘B’ Certificate: 3% bonus

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST) – Qualifying Only

You must meet these physical measurements. No marks awarded—just pass/fail.

For Male Candidates:

  • Minimum Height: 5 feet 6 inches (66 inches / 167.6 cm)
  • Chest (unexpanded): 32 inches minimum
  • Chest (expanded): 33½ inches minimum

For Female Candidates:

  • Minimum Height: 5 feet 2 inches (62 inches / 157.5 cm)

Height Relaxation: Candidates from Gorkha Community/Bot Tribe get 2 inches relaxation

Important: Only candidates selected from top 6 times the total vacancies in each category (based on written test merit) will be called for PST.

Stage 3: Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Qualifying Only

This tests your physical fitness and running ability.

For Male Candidates:

  • 1600 meters race: Must complete within 6.5 minutes (6 minutes 30 seconds)
  • 20 push-ups: Must complete

For Female Candidates:

  • 1000 meters race: Must complete within 6.5 minutes (6 minutes 30 seconds)
  • Shot put (4 kg): Must throw at least 14½ feet, 3 attempts allowed

Note: Relaxed standards available for Ex-Servicemen based on age

Stage 4: Medical Examination

  • Comprehensive medical check-up
