Essential Qualification:

  • Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university

Language Requirement:

  • Sufficient knowledge of Marathi language to speak, read, write, and translate from Marathi to English and vice-versa (Mandatory)

Experience Required (as on 30.01.2026):

Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in any of the following:

Option 1:

  • Practicing as an Advocate in the Bombay High Court or courts subordinate to it, OR
  • Serving as a Judicial Officer in the Maharashtra Judicial Service

While computing 7 years:

  • Period as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate is included
  • Period worked as Law Clerk (after provisional enrollment as Advocate) with Judges of Bombay High Court or Judicial Officers is included

Option 2:

  • Working or have worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for at least 7 years
  • Period as practicing Advocate shall be included

For Serving Judicial Officers:

  • 7 years includes continuous service as Judicial Officer plus service as Public Prosecutor/Government Advocate plus practice as Advocate plus experience as Law Clerk
