🎓 Educational Qualifications

Your educational background determines which posts you can apply for. Here’s what’s required:

For Trade Apprentice Positions (Post Code 101 & 103)

You must have a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree with one of these subjects:

  • Maths
  • Physics
  • Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry

Minimum Marks Required: 50% marks overall (45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates)
Course Type: Must be from a regular full-time course
Qualification Date: Must have passed before or on 31-01-2026

For Technician Apprentice Positions

Post Code 104 (Chemical Engineering) – Requires One of These:

  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • Diploma in Petrochemical Engineering
  • Diploma in Chemical Technology
  • Diploma in Refinery and Petrochemical Engineering

Post Code 107 (Instrumentation) – Requires One of These:

  • Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering
  • Diploma in Instrumentation & Electronics
  • Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
  • Diploma in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

Minimum Marks Required: 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD)

💰 Salary / Stipend Details

All apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and Apprentices Rules, 1992, following IOCL’s guidelines. The exact stipend amount will be determined based on statutory provisions and the establishment’s norms. This is competitive compensation for apprenticeship roles and covers your contribution during the training period.

Basic Age Requirement

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (as on 31-01-2026)
  • Maximum Age: 24 years (as on 31-01-2026)

Age Relaxation for Reserved Categories

PwBD (General) 10 years (can apply up to 34 years)

Example: If you’re SC category, your maximum age limit becomes 29 years (24 + 5 = 29 years)


🎯 Selection Process

The selection is straightforward and transparent. Here’s how you’ll be selected:

Step 1: Registration & Application Submission

  • Register on NAPS or NATS portal (depending on your post category)
  • Submit additional details through the Microsoft Form on IOCL website
  • Both steps are compulsory for your application to be considered

Step 2: Merit-Based Selection

  • Candidates are selected based on the percentage of marks in their qualifying examination
  • Selection is done in descending order (highest marks first)
  • Preference is given to first-time apprenticeship applicants

Step 3: Tie-Breaking (If marks are equal)

  • Date of Birth (older candidate gets preference)
  • Matriculation/10th marks (if date of birth is same)

Step 4: Document Verification

  • Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification
  • You’ll need to bring original certificates and documents
  • Verifies authenticity of your educational qualifications

Step 5: Medical Fitness Test

  • Pre-engagement medical fitness examination is conducted
  • Must be cleared to proceed to final selection

Step 6: Final Offer

  • Candidates declared fit after medical test receive the final offer of engagement
  • You can then join the apprenticeship program

For Technician Apprentice (Post Code 104 & 107):

  • Complete your profile with all required information

Step 3: Fill Application Form

  • Log in to the portal with your credentials
  • Fill your personal details (Name, DOB, Address, Contact)
  • Enter educational information carefully
  • Double-check all marks and percentages

Step 4: Microsoft Form Submission

  • After successful registration on NAPS/NATS, you must submit details on the Microsoft Form
  • Visit www.iocl.com and find the apprenticeship link
  • Fill the form with the same information you provided on NAPS/NATS
  • This step is mandatory for your application to be valid

Step 5: Upload Documents (Digital)

During portal registration, upload:

  • Passport-size photograph (JPG/PNG format)
  • Your signature (clear scan)

Step 6: Submit Your Application

  • Review all information once more
  • Ensure consistency between NAPS/NATS and Microsoft Form
  • Submit your application
