Reservation Policy: The positions are divided among various categories including OBC/MOBC (27%), SC (7%), ST (Hill & Plain – 15%), and 30% positions reserved for women candidates across all categories. Special quotas exist for militancy-affected areas, Home Guards, Sports persons, and NCC certificate holders.


🎓 Educational Qualifications

For Constable (Unarmed Branch – UB):

  • Minimum Qualification: HS or Class XII passed from a Government recognized Board/Council
  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Must be a permanent resident of Assam
  • Must speak Assamese or any other state language fluently
  • Must be registered with a local Employment Exchange in Assam

For Constable (Armed Branch – AB):

  • Minimum Qualification: HSLC or Class X passed from a Government recognized Board/Council

Special Note: Candidates with Higher Secondary qualification and above can apply for both branches, but must clearly indicate their preference.

🎯 Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in 5 stages. All candidates must clear each stage to proceed further:

Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • For Constable (UB) Male & Female: 40 marks
  • For Constable (AB) Male: 60 marks
  • For Constable (AB) Female: 40 marks
  • Running race, long jump, and high jump based on gender and branch

Stage 2: Medical Examination

  • Conducted by Medical & Health Officer
  • Assessment of mental and physical health
  • Candidates must be fit and free from diseases like diabetes, heart disease, hernia, respiratory issues, etc.
  • Vision requirement: 6/6 in at least one eye, not worse than 6/9 in the other (without correction)

Stage 3: Physical Standard Test (PST) (Qualifying, no marks)

  • Height measurement
  • Chest measurement (minimum 80 cm for General/OBC/SC/ST-P; 78 cm for ST-H)
  • Must meet minimum height requirements for your category

Stage 4: Written Test (50 marks)

  • 100 Multiple Choice Questions
