🎯 Selection Process
The selection process is completely merit-based and transparent:
Step 1: Application & Registration You need to register online first, then submit your application with all details.
Step 2: Merit List Preparation India Post will create a merit list based on your 10th class marks. Higher marks = Better ranking. Your percentage will be calculated to 4 decimal places for accuracy.
For Grades/CGPA: If your marks are in grades, they’ll be converted to marks using a formula (Multiply by 9.5).
Step 3: Category-wise Ranking After merit ranking, candidates are arranged category-wise (SC/ST, OBC, EWS, General). Within each category, selection starts from highest marks.
Step 4: Tie-Breaking Rules If two candidates have the same marks, selection is decided by:
- Age: Older candidate gets preference
- Category: ST Trans-woman → ST Female → SC Trans-woman → SC Female → OBC Trans-woman → OBC Female → EWS Trans-woman → EWS Female → General Trans-woman → General Female
Step 5: Shortlist & Notification Shortlisted candidates are notified through SMS and email on their registered mobile and email.
Step 6: Document Verification You must submit original documents at the Division/Unit office. This includes:
- 10th standard certificate
- Local language certificate
- Identity proof
- Address proof
Step 7: Final Offer After verification, you’ll get a “Provisional Engagement Offer” from the system automatically.
Step 8: Pre-Engagement Training You must complete 3 days basic training and arrange accommodation (if applying for BPM).
Step 9: Final Engagement After police verification and all checks, you’ll receive the Final Order of Engagement.

- Complete your registration
After registration, you’ll get a Registration Number. Save it!
Step 2: Login and Fill Application

- Login using your Registration Number and Password
- Fill your personal details accurately:
- Full Name (exactly as in 10th certificate)

- Date of Birth
- Address (permanent and current)

Step 3: Fill Educational Details
- Enter 10th standard board name and year
- Enter your total marks and percentage
- Enter local language studied

Step 4: Select Division and Post Preferences
- Choose the State/Division where you want to work
- Select your post type preference:
- BPM (Branch Postmaster)
- ABPM (Assistant Branch Postmaster)

- You can give preferences for multiple posts in your chosen division
- If selected for multiple posts, only first preference will be offered
Note: You can apply for only one division but multiple posts within that division.
Step 5: Pay Application Fee
