Apprentice Categories Available:

1. Trade Apprentice (Code 107-111, 113-114):

  • Fitter, Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist, Data Entry Operator

2. Technician Apprentice (Code 101-106):

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics Engineering

3. Graduate Apprentice (Code 112):

  • Any discipline (BBA/BA/B.Com/B.Sc)

🎓 Educational Qualifications

Trade Apprentice (ITI Trades):

  • Matriculation + 2 years full-time ITI in relevant trade (Fitter, Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist)
  • Must be recognized by NCVT/SCVT with passing marks

Trade Apprentice (Data Entry Operator):

  • Code 113: Class 12th pass (below graduate level)
  • Code 114: Class 12th + Skill Certificate in ‘Domestic Data Entry Operator’ from NSQF recognized body

Technician Apprentice (Diploma):

  • 3 years full-time Diploma in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, E&E, Electronics)
  • Minimum 50% marks for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates
  • Minimum 45% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates
  • Must be recognized by AICTE/UGC

Graduate Apprentice:

  • Full-time Graduate degree in any discipline (BBA/BA/B.Com/B.Sc)
  • Minimum 50% marks for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates
  • Minimum 45% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates
  • Must be recognized by AICTE/UGC

Important Requirements:

  • All qualifications must be from recognized institutions through full-time regular courses only
  • Part-time/Correspondence/Distance learning NOT eligible
  • Candidates must be registered on NAPS/NATS portal with active Apprentice Registration Number
  • Must have Aadhaar-seeded bank account for DBT
  • PAN Card and Aadhaar Card mandatory
  • Must not have completed 5 years after acquiring qualification as on 31.12.2025
  • Candidates with higher professional qualifications (B.E/MBA/MCA/CA/ICWA/LLB) are NOT eligible

💰 Stipend Details (per month)

Category Stipend Structure
Graduate Apprentice ₹4,500 from BOAT (DBT) + Balance from IOCL + ₹2,500 (Miscellaneous)
Technician Apprentice ₹4,000 from BOAT (DBT) + Balance from IOCL + ₹2,500 (Miscellaneous)
Trade Apprentice Stipend as per Apprentices Act (full by IOCL) + ₹2,500 (Miscellaneous)

Additional Benefits:

  • All apprentices receive an extra ₹2,500 per month for miscellaneous expenses
  • Part of the stipend for Graduate and Technician apprentices is disbursed directly by Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
  • Medical expense reimbursement up to ₹3,000 for pre-engagement medical tests (on submission of receipts)

🎯 Selection Process

No Written Test or Interview! Selection is purely merit-based:

  • Merit list prepared based on percentage of marks in prescribed qualification
  • In case of tie: Candidate with earlier date of birth (older) gets preference
  • If date of birth is same: Higher percentage in matriculation considered
  • Preference given to first-time apprenticeship applicants
  • Shortlisted candidates called for document verification
  • Pre-engagement medical fitness test mandatory
  • Candidates clearing document verification and medical test will receive offer of engagement

Note: Upon completion of 12-month apprenticeship, IOCL has no obligation to provide regular employment, nor can apprentices claim employment rights. However, ex-apprentices can apply for regular positions when openings arise.

📑 How to Apply

Follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Register on NAPS/NATS Portal

Step 2: Complete Your Profile

  • Ensure 100% profile completion with accurate personal, educational, and category details
  • Verify aggregate percentage is correctly displayed

Step 3: Apply on Portal

  • Login to respective NATS/NAPS portal
  • Search and apply for apprenticeship opening with IOCL Northern Region:
    • NATS Establishment ID: NDLSDC000005
    • NAPS Establishment ID: E05200700003

Step 4: Fill Microsoft Form (Mandatory)

  • After applying on NATS/NAPS, you MUST also submit details on Microsoft Form

  • Provide preferred state and three preferred locations
  • Important: Submit only ONE response; multiple submissions won’t be accepted

Step 5: Keep Documents Ready

  • Educational certificates (10th, 12th, ITI/Diploma/Degree)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • PwBD certificate (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar Card and PAN Card
  • Bank account details (Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled)
  • NAPS/NATS registration details

💡 Important Instructions

  • Apply for ONLY ONE discipline code – Multiple applications will be rejected
  • Candidates can apply for second apprenticeship in different trade with minimum 1-year gap after first apprenticeship completion
  • Job experience of 1 year or more after qualification makes candidates ineligible
  • Candidates who have completed 5 years after acquiring qualification (as on 31.12.2025) are NOT eligible
  • Reservation applies as per state/UT prescribed percentages
  • No obligation for regular employment after apprenticeship completion
  • All communications through email/SMS only
  • Keep email ID and mobile number active for at least 1 year
  • Apply well before the deadline – don’t wait for the last day

Note: This is a 12-month apprenticeship training program under the Apprentices Act, 1961. While it provides excellent hands-on experience and industry exposure with India’s largest oil company, it does not guarantee permanent employment.
