🎓 Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or institution approved by UGC / Central Government.
  • Odia Language: The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak Odia. Must have passed Middle School or High School with Odia as a subject or medium — OR passed a Government-conducted Odia test at Middle English School standard.
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.
  • Government servants (temporary or permanent) are also eligible, provided they hold the required qualifications and obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

💰 Salary Details (per month)

Group Pay
Group A — Odisha Police Service ₹56,100/- per month (Level-12, as per 7th CPC)
Group B — All Other Services ₹44,900/- per month (Level-10, as per 7th CPC)

Additional allowances like DA, HRA, TA etc. are applicable as per government rules.


🎯 Selection Process

The OCS exam has three stages — you must clear each one to move ahead:

Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination (Screening)

  • Two objective-type papers, each of 200 marks and 2 hours duration.
  • Paper I: General Studies (counts for merit)
  • Paper II: General Studies (qualifying paper — minimum 33% required)
  • Negative marking: ⅓ mark deducted for every wrong answer.

Stage 2 — Main Examination (Written)

  • 9 papers in total:
    • Part I (Qualifying): Odia & English language papers
    • Part II (Counted for merit): Essay + General Studies I, II, III, IV + 2 Optional subject papers
  • Only Part II marks count towards the final ranking.

Stage 3 — Interview / Personality Test

  • Carries 250 marks.
  • Final merit = Main Written marks + Interview marks.
  • Candidates are allotted services based on final rank and their service preference.

Maximum Attempts: 6 attempts for General category | 9 for SEBC | Unlimited for SC/ST candidates.


⏳ Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 42 years
  • Age is calculated as on 1st January 2025
  • Born between 2nd January 1983 and 1st January 2004

Age Relaxation:

  • SC / ST / SEBC / Women / Ex-Servicemen: 5 years relaxation
  • Persons with Disability (40% or more): 10 years relaxation
  • PwD from SC/ST/SEBC: Cumulative relaxation applicable

Payment is made online via Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, Net Banking, or Wallet while filling the application form. Fee is refunded to candidates who appear in both papers of the Preliminary Examination.


📑 How to Apply

This is a 100% online process. Here are the steps:

  1. Visit the official OPSC website: opsc.gov.in or the application portal opscechayan.in.
  2. Register with your basic details and pay the examination fee by 20 February 2026.
  3. Log in with your registered credentials and fill the complete Online Application Form.
  4. Enter your service/post preference carefully — changes are not allowed after submission.
  5. Upload all required documents in the prescribed format.
  6. Submit the final application by 27 February 2026 (5:00 PM).
  7. Save and print the final application confirmation for future reference.

📌 Applications through any mode other than online will be summarily rejected. No offline applications accepted.
