🎓 Educational Qualifications
Essential:
- B.E./B.Tech degree in one of the seven engineering disciplines: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Metallurgy
- Minimum 65% marks (average of all semesters, irrespective of weightage given to any year/semester)
- Degree must be from a recognized university/institute
Important: Candidates can apply for only ONE engineering discipline matching their degree.
💰 Salary Details (per month)
During Training Period (1 year):
- Basic Pay: ₹50,000/- per month
- Pay Scale: ₹50,000 – ₹1,60,000/-
- Additional: Dearness Allowance (DA)
After Successful Training (as Assistant Manager in E1 Grade):
- Basic Pay: ₹60,000/- per month
- Pay Scale: ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000/-
Overall Package:
- CTC: Approximately ₹16-17 Lakhs per annum (excluding PRP and location-based allowances)

🎯 Selection Process
The selection consists of three stages:
1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – 200 Marks
Part I: Domain Knowledge Test
- Duration: 40 minutes
- Marks: 100
- Subject-specific technical questions based on engineering discipline
Part II: Aptitude Test
- Duration: 80 minutes
- Marks: 100
- Components (25 marks each):
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
- Reasoning Ability
- General Awareness
Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS candidates: Minimum 50 percentile in each part
- SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD candidates: Minimum 40 percentile in each part
2. Group Discussion (GD) – 10% Weightage
- Only shortlisted candidates (1:3 ratio, discipline and category-wise) will be called
- Call letters uploaded on SAIL website and sent via email
3. Interview – 15% Weightage
- Candidates qualifying GD will be interviewed
- Final selection based on combined performance
Final Merit Calculation:
- CBT: 75% weightage
- Group Discussion: 10% weightage
- Interview: 15% weightage
Tie-Breaker:
- Higher marks in CBT
- If still tied, higher marks in qualifying degree (B.E./B.Tech)
Exam Centres: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, and other major cities

General Candidates:
- Maximum Age: 28 years (born not earlier than 05-12-1997)
Departmental Candidates:
- Maximum Age: 45 years (irrespective of caste/category)
Age Relaxation: As per government rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen categories

Step 6: Pay Application Fee:
- General/OBC(NCL)/EWS: ₹1,050/-
- SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Departmental: ₹300/-
- Payment mode: Online (Net Banking/Credit/Debit Card/UPI)
Step 7: Submit the application and take multiple printouts for future reference
